New Website for 2018

ARTS IN THE VILLE now has its own website and will soon have a Facebook page as well.

Jacky Pieper

Jacky Pieper, one of our artists from last year has been away in France studying sculpture and will be exhibiting some of the results over this years ARTS IN THE VILLE. We cant wait to see the results of this intensive sculpture course.

Steven Valiere

Another new artist for 2018 is Steven Valiere. Alongside exhibiting his work worldwide Steven will have a number of painting on display in the war memorial hall in Helensville all weekend.

We have exciting new artists and a new website for 2018.

Karen St John makes amazing anthropomorphic textile sculptures that will be on display in the meeting room all weekend. Pop in and introduce yourself to these beautiful works of art.

The weekend is about to start, You can pick up a hard copy of this map at the Helensville museum or the pop up gallery in the centre of town.
Come out to Helensville an follow the yarn bombed trees and the fabric arrows.

Yarn bombing gone mad

Nothing is safe from the creative hands of Kura Geere-Watson. Kura has moved on from preparing lengths of knitting for the trees around Helensville and moved onto her outside table and chairs.
Kura will have a selection of yarn wrapped objects on show and for sale in the Up-cycle gallery on the corner of Karaka and Commercial rds, Helensville, open Sat and Sunday over Labour weekend.

Arts in the ville 2017 almost here

The Yarn Bombing is about to start, Arts in the Ville 2017 is almost here. Oct 21st - 23rd 

Look out for the fabric arrows, painted signs and trees covered in knitting.

Maps are at the printers so will be available soon from places throughout Helensville, or just turn up during the weekend and collect a map from the museum or meeting roon by the library in the centre of town. See You There!

Wood turner

One of the new additions this year to the open studio trail is Roy Scott, an amazing wood turner. Pop in to see where Roy works all weekend.

Arwen Flowers

Arwen is preparing to open her studio for the 2nd year. Being both a painter and a print maker Arwen's studio is twice as interesting to visit.

Fred Maynard

Fred Maynard is one of our new artists this year, but he is certainly not a new artist. Commuting between his Helensville and Canterbury home bases, Fred has many years behind him as an artist, and will bring an interesting perspective to Arts in the Ville 2017. Fred's work will be at the meeting room of the War Memorial Hall.

Jane Thomas in Pop up gallery

Jane Thomas will be showing her large, textured paintings in the main pop up gallery in the centre of Helensville all weekend. The layers of paint that go into making these paintings what they are really has to been seen in real life. the pop up is open 10 - 4 Sat, Sun, Mon. its the perfect place to collect a map at the start of your creative day in Helensville.

Mike Rowland studio open for the 2nd year

Painter Mike Rowland will have his home studio open for the 2nd year. Come and see this fine local painter at work and talk to him about his process.

Jo Dixey open studio

Jo Dixey will open her studio for the 3 year, Jo has recently publiced a book and all the samples will be on show during the weekend. Come and talk to Jo about her embroidery and see what an embroidery studio looks like when its tidy!!

Leda Daniel on show in the Pop up gallery

Leda Daniel is an Argentinian artist who has been living in Helensville for the past few years.
She gets her inspiration from New Zealand's colourful scenery and the local Kaipara River. Lately she has been working trying to merge her love of landscapes and sunsets with abstract concepts, adding textures and different techniques to her paintings. Each painting is composed of several layers, each showing through to the next, making the finished product very intricate and colourful.
"My main goal is to convey a sense of peace and happiness to my audience when they look at my work.” — Leda

Leda's work will be on show in the Pop up gallery, the meeting room by the library, open 10 - 4 Sat, Sun, Mon.

Public art on show

Helensville is lucky enough to have 3 wonderful new wooden seats. These have been carved by the community under the leadership of the Mad Wood Carver, Denise Marshall.
At any time you can have a walk around Helensville and take time to rest and admire these new pieces of public art.

Tin Shed yarns

Fiona from Tin Shed yarns will once again open her stuido all weekend. Visitors will be able to see the whole process from raw fleece to finiahed garment, including the design process which is always interesting. This year there will be a limited number of handmade stoles available to buy, as well as patterns and wool.

hatmaker opens her studio for the 3rd year

Marmalade hats will once again open its doors to visitors for Arts in the Ville 2017.
Myra will be on hand to show you how her amazing hats are created, hats that are often seen on the cat walk as well as walking around Helensville.

Moth exhibiting

Helensville is full of creative people and businesses. One such business is Moth. Jane has been a supporter of Arts in the Ville from the 1st weekend 3 years ago and this year will again have a display of her work in the Pop up gallery in the centre of town.

After a very successful weekend last year William Robert Boyd will once again open his amazing studio in the old bank in Helensville over Labour weekend. Come and talk to William about his work and see where these beautiful paintings are created.
